So if there's a very clearly sick reptile or rodent or whatever. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this on this subreddit, but I just remembered that info and thought I'd shareĮdit: OK I'll also add that this should apply to all animals in the store as well, but they may have a little more pushback about it. Idk if petco has anything like that, but petsmart does. If anyone has sadly looked at a sick, dying betta at petsmart, and made the wise choice to not give petsmart your money, there is still a chance that you can save it without paying. ![]() But no harm in asking and making a case to rescue the poor lil guy.īut yeah. And from what I can tell, the sickness needs to be pretty extreme. You would have to ask a manager about it im sure. I can't guarantee that it will work every time, they don't advertise the adoption program, and they don't really let all employees in the know. They let you take the fish for free, you just have to sign a contract that says it's yours now and you can't return it. So if you see a betta that looks visibly sick, you can find an employee and request the adoption program. Petsmart does have an adoption program that they use for essentially "non sellable animals". One had swim bladder disease pretty bad, and the other had SEVERE finrot. I used to work at petsmart some time ago, and I've seen at least 2 bettas get rescued in this manner.
